Cultivation and Growth of Neem
Neem tree is not very demanding and can thrive easily in dry, stony, shallow and clayey soils. The tree can be found almost anywhere, it is found in sub tropical and tropical regions like the East Asian region. Its root system has an unusual ability to accumulate nutrients and moisture even from sandy soils. The soil pH of 7 and above is ideal for growth of the tree; it cannot grow on saline soils. It can thrive well in regions, receiving annual rainfall between 450-1150 mm. Neem can also grow in extreme hot and humid conditions, it can endure up to a temperature of 49 degree celcius, however it cannot grow or survive in extreme cold regions.
Neem tree has deep roots, it is a medium to large tree and can grow up to a height of 20 mts with the diameter of the bark ranging between 2.5 to 3 mts. It has wide spreading branches and white coloured flowers. The tree is considered as "Sarva Roga Nivarini" meaning a universal cure for all problems, in Ayurveda.
Neem also positive affects the environment. It releases a higher amount of oxygen than other trees during the day, so it is widely known as an air purifier. It also helps to increase the soil fertility and increases its water holding capacity. Lastly the magical tree can change the acidic soil of calcium mines to neutral soil.
