1. Write short note on any one of the following :( 5x1=5)
a) Conflict in people oriented forestry,
b) Traditional forestry Vs Social forestry.
2. a) People’s participation in conservation through alternate income generating activities is one of the strategies of ongoing Nisorgo support project(NSP). What is your opinion about this type of conservation strategies? Explain in brief.
b) Explain the method of following participatory assessment, monitoring and evalution tools:
i. Open-ended stories
ii. Community environmental assessment
iii. Community financial account.
3. a) Forestry sector project one of the biggest projects of Forestry department. But, experience shows that compared with the later part of the project performance in people’s participation were not so impressive in early stages of the project. What are the causes behind this scenario?
b) If you are assigned to implement a social forestry program for poverty alleviation in any locality, then what method will you employ for selecting your target community or group or people for making the program success? Explain brief.
4. a) Economic solvency is considered to be the prerequisite for sustainable natural resource management world wide. But , social forestry participants in Bangladesh is mainly poor landless rural people. Do you think poor socio-economic background of participants as the major constraints for sustainability of social forestry projects? Do you have other major constraints in your mind
b) Social condition is not static and hence success with one strategy might not appropriate throughout the same country or region. Then what stessary before implementing or designing any social forestry program? How will you conduct this analysis?
